Dear Parents,

We hope that everyone in your family is healthy and happy. Speaking of health, we are starting a new unit on fruits and vegetables.

Through the experiences planned for this unit, the children will become aware of many fruits and vegetables that Allah creates and how they are grown. Also, they will discover how many fruits and vegetables taste.

At school

Some of many fun-filled learning activities scheduled for this unit area:

Planting bean seeds and watches how it’s grown.

Playing the role of a gardener / farmer in the dramatic play area.

Matching pictures of vegetables to where they are grown (trees, vines, underground, etc).

Having fruit and vegetables tasting during snack.

Fun arts and crafts activities and cooking.

At Home

There are many ways you can integrate concepts included in this unit into your family life. Talk about why Allah creates fruits and vegetables with various colors, shapes and taste. To help develop memory and language skills, ask your child which vegetables or fruits he tried during the week. Then let your child help you prepare them at home. Cooking often tempts a child to try new foods. Also, here is a great recipe we will be making for snack on Wednesday that you may want to make at home also.

Banana Sandwiches

½ or 1 banana

Peanut butter

Peel the banana and slice them in half length-wise. Spread peanut butter on one half of the banana and top with the other half. (You may top with chocolate rice / grated carrots or coconut).

Semester Break

Please be informed that our School will be closed due to semester break and Hari Raya from 4^th Sept – 19^th Sept 2010. The school will resume as usual on 20^th September 2010.

Selamat pulang ke sekolah semula kepada semua anak-anak di Tadika Smart Soleh. Alhamdulillah, PTM (Parent-Teacher-Meeting) telah berjalan lancar di semua rangkaian SSiP. Pandangan dan perbincangan bersama sangat bermakna dan memberi suntikan semangat buat guru-guru untuk meneruskan perjuangan dakwah untuk anak-anak tercinta.

Bulan Jun hanya menjengah selama dua minggu sahaja berikutan cuti pertengahan semester. Pada bulan ini, anak-anak akan dikenalkan dengan tema ‘Pakaian’. Anak-anak akan mempelajari mengenai penjagaan pakaian, kebersihan dan jenis-jenis pakaian muslim.

Kali ini juga anak-anak akan mula diterangkan tentang aurat muslim dan muslimah. Anak-anak diterangkan bahawa sebagai Muslim, kita hendaklah berbeza dari bukan Muslim. Muslim dikenal dari segi pakaian dan tingkah laku. Di samping itu, kebersihan pakaian juga dititikberatkan.

Insha Allah, ibu bapa di rumah boleh menggalakkan anak-anak menutup aurat di usia muda ini. Akan tetapi, perlulah diingatkan bahawa dakwah untuk anak-anak ini bukanlah secara paksa atau menakut-nakutkan (seperti masuk neraka dsb). Tarbiyah kepada anak-anak biarlah dengan penggalakan positif yang terarah. Lebih berkesan jika menggunakan ayat-ayat seperti “Ibu suka kalau adik pakai tudung, nampak comel”

Semoga anda berjaya dan terus berusaha memberi Tarbiyah kepada si kecil. Wassalam

A Letter to All Parents about Swine Flu

Dear SSiP Parents,

　　We are sure many of you are aware of the news reports regarding the recent outbreak of the Swine Flu (H1N1) in our country. We would like you to know that the indication of this strain in our area is worsen. There are Taska and Kindergarten that has been closed down due to such cases. We do want to offer you reassurance that we are monitoring the news reports, and are taking seriously any possible implications for SSiP families. We are taking every precaution to protect our children and staff.

　　Swine Flu is a type of influenza that can be contracted from direct contact and exposure to pigs. Once a person is infected, it can be transmitted from person to person in the same way that seasonal flu spreads (through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza). Swine flu was first identified in 1930, so it has been around for some time. Most countries diagnose 1-2 cases a year.

　　Our kindergarten’s staff will continue to closely monitor the situation. We will observe the children every morning and if they are sick, we will contact you to pick up the children and remain at home until full recover. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Meanwhile, please remain vigilant during the coming holiday and duration of the Swine Flu epidemic by observing the following steps:

*Enhance personal hygiene at your residence and wash hands diligently
*Avoid crowds and public food stalls
*Notify your class teacher should you have to travel out of the town
*Notify your class teacher and remain home for a week if returning from areas or having contacted with patients affected by the Swine Flu
*Keep your child at home till full recovery if he/she is having flu symptoms such as fever, runny nose and etc.

Dear Parents,

“Homes” will be the focus of our next curricular theme. Since everyone home is unique, we will be discussing activities we do in our home, the rooms in our homes, things in the different rooms and supplication relating home.

At Home
To develop observation skills, take your child on a walk around your neighborhood to look at the house in your area. Talk about different colors and sizes of dwellings.

Enjoy the time you spend with your child!

Assessments
Alhamdulillah, we are approaching to First Semester assessment by next week. For your information, our kindergarten is not an exam oriented program. Therefore, most of the assessments are conducted through observation of the children understanding towards the lesson taught since January – May. Our kindergarten will organize a Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM); where we can report and discuss further on the performance and development of the child at school. Please check with your centre for the PTM appointment.

We welcome you to give suggestion and share information on your child performance / to improve our service. We really hope you can spend 15 minutes for the PTM for the benefit of our children. If the date is not convenient to you, please contact us as soon as possible for appointment at your convenient.

Celebration
We will be celebrating Mothers Day & Teachers Day (Insha Allah, each centre will advice you).

Children please come to school with Baju Melayu / Baju Kurung and bring snacks on that day. We thank you for the souvenir given and may the children learn to be appreciative.
